General Practice: questions about you
General Practice covers the personal questions an interviewer asks. You talk about yourself, your family, your work day, your plans and why you want to move. The questions are written for your destination country.
What General Practice is
An employer wants to know you as a person, not only as a tradesperson. General Practice lets you practise these personal questions before the real day. A pre-recorded interviewer asks each question. You answer out loud, and AI marking gives you a score and feedback.
The questions are grouped by topic. Topics include Introduction & Small Talk, Family & Personal Life, Why Migrating, Country Knowledge, Future Plans & Goals and Day-to-Day Routine. You pick up to 3 topics for each set.
Who it helps
This section helps you if:
- you know your trade well, but find it hard to talk about yourself in English
- you have not had a job interview for a long time
- you want a clear and honest answer to "Why do you want to move?"
- you feel nervous in the first minutes of an interview
It is a good place to start, because the questions are about your own life.

Move on
Press "Next question". Your place is saved, so you can stop at any time.
The full flow, with every button, is on the how it works page.
How it is marked
General Practice uses AI marking. The text of your answer is compared with a model answer. The marking looks at the meaning, not the exact words. It allows for simple English and for speech-to-text mistakes. You get a score from 0 to 10, in steps of 0.5.
Each marked answer uses one marked question from your plan. If the result is "We did not hear an answer", nothing is used. See pricing for the details.
Tips for getting the most from it
- Answer with real facts from your own life. Real details are easier to remember and to say.
- Give a reason and a short example, not a one-word answer.
- Use short, clear sentences. You do not need long words.
- Press "Listen" on "A stronger answer", then press "Try this one again".
- Press "Show my camera" to check your eye contact. The camera is never recorded.
- When this feels easy, mix it with trade questions in a Mock Interview.
What a question looks like
The example below is a real question from the General Practice bank. It is shown without the model answer, the same way you see it before you answer. Read it and think about what you would say out loud.
Topic: Introduction & Small Talk
Tell me a bit about yourself and your background.
A real question from the practice bank. The model answer is shown only after you answer.

Questions and answers
Are the questions the same for every country?
No. The questions are for your destination country: Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or Canada.
Do I need to learn the model answer by heart?
No. The marking compares the meaning, not the exact words. Use your own words and your own life.
How many topics can I choose?
You can choose up to 3 topics for each set. You can choose other topics next time.
What if I stop in the middle?
Press "Save and exit". The app saves your place, and next time you continue from the next question.
Will a real interviewer ask these same questions?
We cannot say. These are practice questions, and a real interview may be different. We are not part of any government or employer.
