Picture Quiz: learn the words for your trade
The Picture Quiz teaches the English words for your trade. You listen to a short question, look at a picture and choose one of 3 options. You see straight away if you were right.
What the Picture Quiz is
The Picture Quiz is a quick quiz about the words of your trade: tools, parts, jobs and safety words. Each question has a short audio question, a picture and 3 options. You do not need to speak. You only listen, look and choose.
It is the quickest section. You can answer a few questions in a short break.
Who it helps
This section helps you if:
- you know a tool in your own language, but not its English name
- you find spoken questions hard to understand
- you are at the Foundation level and want an easy first step
- you want a short warm-up before you practise speaking

How a question works
Listen
The audio question plays when the question opens. The question is also written on the screen.
Look at the picture
The picture goes with the question. Look at it carefully.
Choose one option
Tap one of the 3 options. Your first tap is your answer.
See the result
You see "Correct." or "Not correct." straight away. If you were wrong, the correct answer is shown.
Go to the next question
Press "Next question". Your place is saved after every answer.
How it is marked
The Picture Quiz is marked right or wrong, straight away. There is no AI marking in this section and no score out of 10. At the end you see how many questions you answered correctly.
Because there is no AI marking, the Picture Quiz does not use marked questions from your plan. See pricing for what counts as a marked question.
Tips for getting the most from it
- Listen to the whole question before you choose. Your first tap is final.
- Press "Replay audio" if you did not catch a word.
- Say the correct word out loud after each question.
- Write down the words you got wrong and read them again later.
- Do a few questions before Skills Practice, so the words are fresh.
- When the quiz is finished, press "Start again from question 1" to test your memory.

Questions and answers
Do I need a microphone?
No. You only listen and choose. You need a microphone for the spoken sections.
Does the Picture Quiz use my marked questions?
No. It is marked right or wrong with no AI marking, so it does not use marked questions.
Can I hear the question again?
Yes. Press "Replay audio" as many times as you like.
What if the audio does not start?
Some browsers stop audio from starting by itself. Press "Replay audio" to hear the question.
Can I change my answer?
No. The question is answered when you tap an option. You can do the quiz again later.
